December 15, 2009 - Thalassemia patients (or their family members) with an artistic bent have a chance to have their work recognized in the Kakkis Everylife Foundation's Art Contest.

Individuals affected by rare diseases (such as thalassemia) - whether a patient, family member, care taker or close friend - may submit a work of art for consideration in one of three categories:

Children ages 5-11
Teens ages 12-17
Adults 18 years and up

Two grand prizes will be awarded in each group, with each grand prize winner in the children's age group receiving a $100 Visa gift card; with each grant prize winner in the teen age group receiving a $250 Visa gift card; and with each grand prize winner in the adult group receiving a $500 Visa gift card.

In addition, contestants with works of outstanding art will receive a $25 Visa gift card.
